There's something about a tall, large, metal tube that attracts Airbnbs. I've personally stayed in two so far, one being a grain bin and one being a silo. (If you're from Eastern Washington, you know you cannot call the two the same thing. I've made that mistake before and you'd never believe how many corn cobs could be thrown at a person). Turn to Google and type in "Silo Airbnb" (or "grain bin Airbnb", don't leave them out), you'll see thousands of results. There's just something about the intersection of storing crops and sleeping that truly catches the attention of any adventurer.
The Grain Bin Inn in Pasco, WA is more than just a grain bin with stairs and a bed (to be fair, I don't
think any of the Airbnbs are...). It is an incredible space that makes you feel like you've been transported into another world. The grain bin itself is gorgeous. It has a handmade wooden staircase that curves up to the second floor with an incredibly soft bed and a unique view of the bin's ceiling. It's farmhouse chic, which I'm obsessed with.
Let's talk about the outside...in the warmer months, the grain bin lounge is open. This is a mini grain bin that has been turned into a "bar". We spent the entire evening out here because...who doesn't love a private bar? There was nobody else obnoxiously laughing at a joke that, let's be honest, really wasn't that funny. The lounge overlooks the owner's incredible garden that sunflowers are the star of. Also, at night the string lights turn on and let me tell you...it's spectacular. I know I'm a bit of a string light connoisseur.
I haven't met a strand of lights I didn't like. But this display would delight even the most critical of light stands. You can also stare at the fake grass rugs even into the dark of night. I don't know if that's just a me thing...but I LOVE me some fake grass. I want a yard FULL of fake grass. It's always green, perfectly short, and you can even vacuum it I bet.
Anyways, there are tons of places to explore on this farm if you get bored of the lounge. Sprinkled throughout the farm are quite a few different firepits. Unfortunately, we went during a fire ban, so I can't say for sure they are conducive for creating fires, but they looked like they were. My favorite little area was the "Chick Shack". Aside from being aptly named the "Chick Shack", it features more fake grass and string lights with a view of chicken coop. The coop was empty...but I dream of the day you can sit at the Chick Shack and look at chicks.
I always find so much charm in Eastern Washington, and The Grain Bin Inn is a perfect example of that! Sitting amongst the flowers was truly an epic experience that helped us end the summer on a high note. Be sure to check them out! And...for the love of God don't call it a silo.
