I have a long history with Cameo Heights. Perched high above Highway 12 in Touchet, WA, this luxury oasis is halfway between the Tri-Cities and Walla Walla. Not to say there's nothing to do in Touchet...but if you search for "things to do in Touchet, WA" on TripAdvisor, it really does say "We could not find attractions near Touchet. Try a different search.". Well, besides Cameo Heights, of course.
Our first time at Cameo Heights was right after our wedding. We walked into the front doors late at night and there was a large group of people sitting at a formal dining table right by the entrance. We stared at them, they stared at us, and without saying a word they erupted into applause. I think the wedding dress was a giveaway that we just got married, but it was so sweet and so awkward. I wasn't expecting a kind crowd of humans at midnight to cheer us on like a surprise party. Tyler, being the socially-awkward human he is scurried away as I stood there, soaking in the attention cheering and saying "THANK YOU! THANNNK YOUUU!!!" as they continued their round-of-applause.
Anyways, enough about me and my stupid wedding day. Cameo Heights is a true PNW gem. In the spring and summer you are surrounded by luscious, green vineyards. In the winter, it is decorated like a true winter wonderland with tons of lights (I don't know about fall...I haven't been during this season. I'm sure it has its merits. Maybe Cameo Heights will offer me a free night during the fall season so I can report back to everyone?). This is my favorite time to see Miss Cameo herself. We climb the orchard road in the front of the house at night and then soak in all the decorations. They also decorate the rooms with Christmas trees and (empty) presents. I shake them every time, though, just to be sure.
Cameo Heights has seven suites. We've been lucky enough to stay in three of them: the Greek Suite (our all-time favorite that we have a hard time staying away from), the German Suite, and the French Suite. Each one is unique and has their own perks. The Greek Suite is the biggest of all the suites and has the
most luxurious bathroom I've ever seen. The German Suite has a loft with a couch and is a great place to chat, read, and take overview pictures of the room (that may just be a "me" thing...I love capturing the entire room in one photo. "This is the shot. The people will love this" is what we always say). The French Suite has an amazing view of the vineyard and has electric blinds (look...those things are cool). The next one I REALLY want to stay in is the English Tudor Suite. It's on the top floor, by itself, and looks huge with an incredible view of the vineyard as well.
We never want to leave the suites when we're there, so we always pay a little extra to have the complimentary breakfast delivered to our room. Let me tell you about this breakfast...it's seriously insane. They start you off with coffee, hot chocolate, tea etc. and a fresh pastry. They also have a sheet with it talking about what happened that day in history, the weather, etc. I don't know why, but I freaking love that thing. Can I get the weather on my phone? Yes. But, I can also read it on 110 lb paper (I learned that paper has poundage from The Office) with a fancy letterhead. Next comes the breakfast. It's always absolutely incredible. I've never had a breakfast as amazing as theirs (and I'm NOT just sucking up for a free-night stay). There are hashes and pancakes, smoked salmon and poached eggs...but they're all elevated and incredible.
Let's talk amenities. In the basement they have a private movie theater. We ALWAYS bring a stupid movie to watch there. We've done Napoleon Dynamite, Step-Brothers, Talladega Nights...you get the idea. They have complimentary popcorn and candy and you can use the provided coins to purchase soda and ice cream (You can also pay for them if you use all your tokens). There's ping-pong, couches and a TV, horseshoe, tetherball, gas firepits, a jacuzzi, a pool, and you can walk through their orchard and vineyard.
Cameo Heights is truly an Eastern Washington hidden gem and even though it's in Touchet, where TripAdvisor (not me) claims there's nothing to do, you don't need to leave and explore. Soaking in all this B&B has to offer is more than enough.
