An Epic Pizza Roll Dinner View

Brookings, OR is Oregon's gateway to California. I don't know if anybody's ever said that, but it could be the town's slogan. It's where the Beaver State meets the Golden State. Destined to battle for eternity. Since I represent the PNW, obviously I am partial to the Western Meadowlark's state (that's the Oregon state bird. Never heard of it? Neither have I.). That's why we decided to stay in Brookings, OR rather than in stupid Smith River, CA, just across the border (I'm kidding, I'm sure the town is lovely and looks exactly like Brookings). That's where Beachfront Inn comes in.

Located right on the Pacific Ocean, it's actually the only Oregon hotel that is right ON the sand. I feel like that's not a great structural move, but it's been working for them so far! You really can't get much closer to the ocean without being in it. The beach that it sits on is a private one, just for their hotel guests. Talk about a VIP experience! I felt so fancy going to my own private beach. I just think they need a bouncer to kick out the riff-raff. "Excuse me, ma'am? Yeah, back that stroller up. You and your children are NOT welcome to build sand castles on this private beach. No key card, no access. Please, no riff-raff". I think it's a great business move.

I could not get over the incredible view form our room. We had a balcony and a window in the little

dining nook. We opened up the window and the sliding door and just listened to the crashing waves all evening. We busted out our dinner, which consisted of Jones sodas and leftover Totino's Pizza Rolls from our dinner date with Rue (The three people who read this blog will know what I'm talking about. If you're new here, be sure to read the blog about the Heceta Lighthouse. Please don't leave. I'm really looking for a fourth reader to truly feel like I've made it.). We didn't bring plates, so we used the coffee cups to make a plate. You would have done it too and you know it.

We spent the evening relaxing on the balcony, watching the waves crash on the beach and the people walking in the sand. (They BETTER have been hotel guests on my private beach.). As day turned into night, people lit bonfires all along the beach. It was really cool to see the glows of the fire stretch along the ocean.

The Beachfront Inn also has a free breakfast, which is

always a huge win. We got our breakfast, took it back to our room, and enjoyed another delicious meal with a view. We took another walk on our private beach, soaking it all in, before heading out to...California. Since we hid the fact that we are a PNW page, they let us in at the border (and because we didn't have any produce). We left Oregon in the review mirror and headed into the Golden state as spies.

If you're looking for a peaceful and breathtaking view of the ocean, The Beachfront Inn is the place to visit. It's just a few minutes from Harris Beach State Park, a stunning and quiet Oregon beach with amazing rock features and really cool tidepools to peep some awesome sea creatures. You won't regret your stay!
