Located away from the hustle and bustle of the heart of Port Townsend, there sits an incredibly charming Airbnb that we lovingly referred to as "LAND BOAT" (yes you have to yell it).
This 1938 cruiser has been plopped down in the middle of a wooded area on a gorgeous plot of land. Lana, the owner, greets you upon arrival with the sweetest little "hello!" you've ever heard!! We immediately felt welcomed, especially because Leo, an old white pupper, ran up to us to politely greet us and let us know all was well.
We got settled for the evening and explored the inside of the boat. The galley was incredibly spacious and had so much character! It had a full kitchen. There was an oven, a stove, a microwave (my only necessary cooking device), a mini-fridge, a full sink, and most importantly an electric water kettle and French press.
There is an adorable dining room area with two booths and a pretty large table. Lana has included some games, cards, and an antique View-Finder that came with a TON of PNW related reels, which I was ecstatic about!! Tyler and I played Crazy 8's (our go-to game) and I explored the reels while he shuffled (loser shuffles...as you can imagine, he's usually shuffling).
From the kitchen area, you walk up a couple of steps into the living room. Fit with a daybed, the original bridge, and twinkle lights, this was by far my favorite part of the cruiser! I thought we were going to hang out outside most of the time on the covered cockpit, but we definitely spent most of the time in this area. It could be that it made us feel like we were out on the open ocean, battling our way through a storm,
or it could have been the twinkle lights...I'm kind of a twinkle light freak.
Moving on to the bunks, you go down another couple of stairs and are greeted with two very tall, very long, twin bunks on either side of you. Thank goodness there was a step stool included or my five-foot-one self would not have been able to crawl my way up into the bunk. To be honest, I was pretty sure these bunks were not going to be comfortable. This cruiser is 80 years old for goodness sake. I'm an optimist, but I also understand that the 1940's weren't known for their comfortable furniture. I am not lying when I tell you this was such a comfortable bed!! I slept like a baby who can finally sleep through the night. To be fair, it could have been because Tyler was on the other bunk and I didn't have to hear his snores in my ear and feel his hot breath on my face (sorry hunny)...but it was incredible!!
Also, we cannot ignore the blatant poop deck peering out at us. It was actually really spacious! It had more room than most trailers we've been in, which really surprised me! It was equipped with a super quaint black mini-sink and I kind of loved it. However, black sinks and white toothpaste does NOT mix well...
You may be thinking..."where do you shower??" because...that's what I was thinking too. Well, fear not, because there is an OUTDOOR SHOWER!!! Yes...you heard that right...Outdoor. Shower. I don't know about you, but I don't think we should have indoor showers. They should ALL be outdoors.
Have you ever been in an outdoor shower?? If the answer is yes, I KNOW you agree. However, to be fair, I've only used an outdoor shower in the summer... Well, anyhow, this place had an incredible shower! Although, I have to admit, there is not a lot of hot water. I don't know about you, but I am a 20+ minute shower taker (I know...I know...I'm trying to work on it...). However, this outdoor shower had a five minute hot water tank. That did make it hard to fully enjoy showering under a roof of greenery and listening to the wind whistle through the trees...but don't get me wrong...it was still incredible.
All in all, we seriously had an incredible stay! I will definitely be back! It was incredibly quiet and relaxing. Well...I take that back...we DID stay on the 3rd and the 4th of July...so the 4th wasn't *entirely* silent, but we were hoping for some sweet explosion action!
